Light Scandinavian bedroom with a smooth quilted white duvet without a cover on an oak bed

Duvet without a cover: the pros and cons at a glance

A duvet without a cover, also called a washable duvet or 2-in-1 duvet, is becoming increasingly popular. The cover is attached to the duvet, so you never have to get a duvet cover on again. But is it right for you? These are the pros and cons.

The pros

  • Make your bed in seconds. No more battling with a duvet cover. Handy for everyone, and especially if you have less strength in your arms.
  • You wash the whole duvet. Not just the cover, the filling is washed regularly too.
  • Always neat. No duvet shifting or bunching up inside the cover.
  • Ideal for a guest bed, caravan or children's room. Quickly made and easy to keep clean.

The cons, and how to deal with them

  • You need a washing machine of the right size. A large duvet does not fit in every drum. For a 240 cm wide Snoozella duvet, for example, you need 10 kg. See the washing instructions per size.
  • Drying takes longer than a separate cover. A tumble dryer helps: Snoozella duvets can go in the dryer on a normal programme.
  • You are stuck with one look. Want some variety? Then choose a reversible duvet such as the ComfyBed Duo, with two colours in one.
  • You have no duvet while it is in the wash. The solution: work with two duvets.

Who is a duvet without a cover ideal for?

For anyone who finds changing the bed an annoying chore, for families with children and for anyone who likes a clean bed without the hassle. If you have a washing machine that is large enough and ideally a tumble dryer, you will get the most out of it.
