Can you never choose between two colours? Or do you want to give your bedroom a different look now and then without buying a new duvet cover? Then a reversible duvet might be exactly what you are looking for. In this article you will read what a reversible duvet is, how to combine the colours cleverly and how to get the most out of it.
What is a reversible duvet?
A reversible duvet has a different colour on the top than on the bottom. You choose which side is on top. Flip it over and you have a different bed in one movement. With a reversible duvet without a cover, such as the ComfyBed Duo, both sides are the finished outer fabric of the duvet itself. So you do not need a duvet cover.
The difference from a reversible duvet cover
Reversible duvet covers have been around for a while. The difference is that with a duvet cover you still have to get the duvet into it and wash the cover separately. With a reversible duvet without a cover, cover and filling form one whole: flip, shake and done.
Why choose two colours?
Variety without extra stuff
With a regular duvet you need several duvet covers for variety, and they take up space in the cupboard. With a reversible duvet you have two looks in one product.
Go with the seasons
Many people choose a lighter colour in spring and summer and a deeper shade in autumn and winter. Flip the duvet over and your bedroom instantly feels different.
Go with your mood
Fancy a calm, light bedroom? Or rather a bit more warmth and character? You decide per day, or per week.
A surprising detail
Fold the top edge back a little and you see both colours at once. That gives a playful, well-styled effect, as if you had deliberately put together a combination.
Tips for styling your reversible duvet
Match the pillows
Choose pillowcases in a neutral shade that goes with both sides, such as white, cream or light grey. Then the whole always works, whichever side is on top.
Use a throw to tie it together
A throw at the foot of the bed in a colour that sits between the two sides ties the combination together. That way your bed looks like one well-thought-out whole.
Think about your walls and floor
Keep the colour of your walls, floor and curtains in mind. A light side can make a small bedroom feel more spacious, a darker side gives a cosy feel.
Two people, two tastes
Do your tastes differ? With a reversible duvet you can take turns choosing which side is on top. A small compromise that saves a lot of discussion.
Washing and care
You wash a reversible duvet without a cover as a whole. The ComfyBed Duo can go in the washing machine at up to 60 °C, at about 1000 rpm. Afterwards it can go in the tumble dryer on a normal programme, giving it a quick shake in between. Line drying is also fine, as long as it is completely dry before you use it again.
Mind the drum capacity: 5 kg for 140x200 and 160x200, 7 kg for 200x200 and 10 kg for 240x200. You will find more details in the washing instructions.
Tip: flip it regularly
By flipping the duvet now and then, the use is spread over both sides. It is also a good moment to give it a proper shake.

Frequently asked questions
Is a reversible duvet equally warm on both sides?
Yes. The filling is in the middle, so it makes no difference to the warmth which side is on top. Only the colour changes.
How do I wash a reversible duvet?
Just like a single-sided duvet without a cover: as a whole, up to 60 °C, and then in the tumble dryer or on the line until it is completely dry.
Can I get pillowcases in the same colour?
A neutral colour works with both sides. If you want a specific combination, choose a shade that matches one of the two sides.
